A few things to note: 

STOKES is a very important part of the LCJSMS Experience. Our goal is to make the best, most fun trip we can while also ensuring the safety of everyone attending STOKES.We are looking for high school students to help us achieve our goals. If you think you can provide a safe, fun, educational experience for our middle schoolers, then you should apply. 

Applications are due Friday, April 12.

A selection committee, which consists of teachers and administrators at LCJSMS and SHS, will review the applications and select the students they feel will provide the best STOKES experience. Selected students will be informed via e-mail in May. Students who are not initially selected will most likely join our waitlist. Students on the waitlist may be contacted in the event that a counselor cannot fulfill their duties to the program. 

Counselors are required to participate in the following activities: 

1) An initial meeting on Tuesday, June 4 at Jefferson Elementary from 9:30 AM - 12 PM

2) A training at LCJSMS on Tuesday, August 27 from 9:30 AM - 12 PM

3) A training at Fairview Lake on Sunday, September 8 from 7 AM - 4 PM

4) The STOKES Trip, Friday through Sunday, September 20 - 22

5) STOKES Night, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, October 30

Please Note: If you are participating in a club, sport, or activity in the fall, it is your responsibility to inform your coach/advisor of your intention to participate in STOKES. If you are selected as a counselor, and there is a conflict between STOKES and another event, the expectation is that you will participate in the STOKES event. By completing your application, you are acknowledging and accepting your responsibility to the STOKES program.
